About the Club

Hale Barns CC is a friendly club situated about 12 miles south of Manchester and close to Manchester International Airport. It has a picturesque ground away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, surrounded on two sides by large "stockbroker belt" houses and on the other two sides by a wood and a field.

Social functions are held on a regular basis and Socials members are always welcomed. Several prestigious companies use the club for office matches for staff and clients. The ground is most convenient for them, being a short drive from Manchester city centre. Please contact the secretary if you would like more information.

New players are invited to join, particularly those of 1st and 2nd XI standard. The club is well worth a visit, as is the surrounding countryside.

The club runs four senior teams most weekend. Three League teams compete in the Mellor Braggins Cheshire Cricket League (1st & 2nd XI's) and the Cheshire County Cricket League (3rd XI). The First and Second teams playing on Saturday and the Third team on Sundays. The Barnstormers play competitive friendly fixtures on Sundays

We also make a tour to Devon each summer, playing 5 matches against local sides. 2009 saw us make our 32nd consecutive visit. Cheshire County Cricket Club use Hale Barns Cricket club to host junior county matches, 2006 saw U12 and U19 matches

We also have a thriving Junior Section of about 80 youngsters. There are three teams playing in the South Manchester Junior League at Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 levels. Once they reach 16 they are encouraged to progress into the 3rd XI and upwards where the length of game is more suitable for their talents.

For the younger children a number of Under 9 matches are arranged on a friendly basis. The club has achieved Clubmark accreditation for demonstrating a child safe and child friendly environment.
